Joyce Wamoyi, visiting professor in the department of African studies, will present in the SPH Lecture Series on Oct. 30 from noon to 1 p.m. in Baker Center 240/242.
Wamoyi works in areas of sexual and reproductive health and behavior and will present on sexual and reproductive health risks faced by adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa. This talk draws on her research work in sub-Saharan and will discuss why it is important to focus on adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa, the role of transactional sex as a structural driver for Human Immune deficiency virus (HIV) risk, conceptualization and measurement of the practice of transactional sex and the way forward in addressing transactional sex.
