When will I find out about my status?
Students who 1) apply to the aviation flight major and have a complete University application on file by the November 15 early action deadline and 2) submit the Aviation Flight Supplemental Application by December 9, 2024, will receive notification of the status in January.
Students who 1) apply to the aviation flight major and have a complete University application on file by the February 1 rolling deadline and 2) submit the Aviation Flight Supplemental Application by February 17, 2025, will receive notification of the status in March.
Students will receive their decision in the postal mail.
Why was I admitted to University College?
All aviation flight applicants who are admissible to the University are initially admitted undecided to University College. Students who are later admitted to the aviation flight major will move from University College to the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. Students not selected for the aviation flight major will remain in University College until they declare another major. University College advisors are committed to helping students navigate their academic options and prepare for their future program of study.
Can I change my major to aviation flight later?
Because of the highly selective nature of the aviation flight major, opportunities to change your major to aviation flight at a later time are not available.
What happens if I’m not selected for the aviation flight major?
Students not selected for the aviation flight major will remain in University College until they declare another major. University College advisors are committed to helping students navigate their academic options and prepare for their future program of study.
An option you may consider is changing your major to one of the technology degrees in the Russ College. These include Engineering Technology and Management and Aviation Management. These programs require that applicants meet the University’s general guidelines for admission, but they do not specify mathematics, chemistry or physics requirements beyond a college-prep curriculum. Engineering Technology and Management is a good choice for students who are looking for more of a hands-on curriculum and less of a theoretical curriculum. The Aviation Management degree is a good choice for students interested in working in and managing operations within the aviation industry.
When will I know if I’m selected for the aviation flight major from the wait list?
Students who are initially placed on the wait list will be notified of their final admission decision by August 1, 2025. Decisions will be sent via postal mail.
How can I submit my video response?
Students will record their video response directly on the supplemental application . To record the video, students will need to use a device with a webcam and microphone. Recommended browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera or Microsoft Edge. Apple mobile devices are not compatible.If prompted, be sure to allow the browser to access the camera and microphone.
Instructions:
- To begin the recording process, select "Ready."
- Students will have two minutes before a recording automatically begins. To begin recording earlier, select "Start Recording."
- Once recording has begun, students will have five minutes before the recording automatically stops. Students may choose to stop the recording early by selecting "Stop Recording."
- Once students have recorded their responses, they will have the option to view their video, and they may choose to re-record their responses if they wish. There is no limit to the number of times students can re-record their response.
I am unable to submit a video response. What should I do?
Students who are unable to submit a video response for any reason may instead submit written essay responses on the supplemental application.
