How do I sign up?
Register with your email address. Answer a few questions about your expertise, what you’re interested in, and how you can help Bobcats. Connect your LinkedIn profile if you want, and you’re all set!
I’m signed up. Now what?
There are lots of things you can do in the Bobcat Network! Join groups that align with your interests, region, or industry – and engage with those specific communities by posting discussions, asking for tips, or sharing your work. Respond to requests to connect. Post jobs on the job board. Browse upcoming events and event recordings. Check out the Bobcat Neighborhood full of Bobcat-owned businesses. Post on the overall discussion board and share items of interest. Share with your connections looking to build their network.
I'm already on LinkedIn. how is the Bobcat Network different?
The Bobcat Network is full of Bobcats willing to help other Bobcats. The connections we all share as Bobcats is uniting, spanning generations. We are Forever OHIO. To help you complete your profile, you can import your LinkedIn data and reach out to Bobcats today!
I’m looking for employment. How can the Bobcat Network support me?
By joining the Bobcat Network, you will have access to our alumni-only job board. Some of these jobs are posted by your fellow alumni, others are pulled from our career database, Handshake . In order to apply to a job pulled from Handshake, you will be asked to activate your alumni profile. Handshake also houses career fair events that are open to alumni and you can register once you’ve activated your profile.
I want to share job opportunities with my fellow alumni. How can I do that?
The Bobcat family supports one another and Bobcats love working with Bobcats! If you have a job opening at your company, we hope you will consider sharing it under the “Jobs” tab in the Bobcat Network.
I want to share job opportunities with current students. How can I do that?
We love that our Bobcat alumni support our students in their career pursuits! To share a job opportunity with current students, please visit Handshake and create an employer account.

How can I get the most out of this community?
Join an industry community under the "Groups" tab. Don't be afraid to reach out to new people and ask questions. The Bobcat Network is a supportive and inclusive environment where you can learn more about life beyond Ohio University.
Bobcat Network Professional Responsibilities and Best Practices
As a participant of the Bobcat Network, be prepared to professionally network and hold yourself to high ethical standards. These best practices have been established to help guide professionalism/character while interacting with others on the platform.
Honesty & Integrity
Be sure to provide accurate and professional information in all materials and actions during networking, communications, and career-related activities on the Bobcat Network platform.
Professional Code of Conduct
Communicate and present yourself professionally while also being courteous/respectful of your interactions (in person, in writing, by phone, video chat or email) and:
- Ensure voicemail messages and e-mails are professional in nature.
- Acknowledge calls, emails, and invitations, and respond appropriately in a timely manner.
- Attend all scheduled one-on-one interactions with other participants. If possible, provide two business days’ notice for any cancellations.
Networking Do’s & Don’ts
- Do ask for advice and information
- Don’t ask for a job (or internship)
- Do send a brief thank you letter or email after networking with a contact
- Don’t expect individuals to automatically share their information and networking contacts with you
- Do follow up with contacts provided to you
- Don’t spam a contact with multiple emails or stalk them with multiple phone calls
Bobcat Network Administrators
BN Administrators have the right to remove any content that is deemed inappropriate. Posts or comments may be removed for any of the following reasons, at any time:
- The use of obscene, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing language
- Comments advocating illegal activity
- Advertisement or promotion of commercial products, services, entities, or individuals
- Endorsement or opposition of any person campaigning for election to a political office or promoting or opposing any ballot proposal
- Duplicative comments by the same user or multiple users
- Users with repeat offenses may be asked to leave the group or have their account suspended at the discretion of the group administrators
Consequences of inappropriate behavior include but are not limited to:
- Removal from the Bobcat Network platform
- Ohio University has the full authority to remove contacts or inappropriate comments, messages, or anything deemed inappropriate for the site
