Admission Requirements
There are no admissions requirements. This certificate is open to all Ohio University students on the Athens campus. To add the certificate, speak to your current academic advisor in your academic college to request that it be added to your graduation plan.
Curriculum
To complete the undergraduate Business Cybersecurity Management certificate, you will complete five courses total: three required Management Information Systems (MIS) courses in the College of Business and two elective courses in the Information and Telecommunications Systems (ITS) in the Scripps College of Communication.
For current College of Business students, the three MIS courses can also count towards an MIS major, which you can complete by taking three additional courses.
Course Highlights
- You'll begin your cybersecurity journey with Systems Analysis & Design (MIS 2200), through which you will master the ability to understand and model complex systems — an essential skill for identifying potential vulnerabilities in IT infrastructures.
- In Business Intelligence (MIS 2800), you'll focus on fundamental database concepts. This course ensures you are proficient in managing data, protecting its integrity and securing it against cyber-attacks.
- Business Cybersecurity (MIS 3800) is the program's capstone course which integrates knowledge from both cybersecurity and management domains. The course will equip you with the tools and methods you will need to identify and assess cybersecurity threats, configure access authentication mechanisms, and develop comprehensive cybersecurity incident recovery plans. The course also introduces industry best practices, ensuring you are well-versed in maintaining robust business security standards.
