What to Expect
In-Person Career Fairs
First time attending? Here's what to expect! At an in-person career fair, employers have tables set up in a room. Students go from table to table to learn more about companies, open job/internship positions, and possible career paths. We recommend bringing copies of your resume and dressing to impress .
Virtual Career Fairs
Virtual Career Fairs take place through Handshake's virtual fair platform, where you can interact with recruiters through audio, chat, and videoconferencing. Registration is required to attend virtual career fairs. After you register for the fair, you'll be prompted to sign up for 30-minute group/information sessions and 10-minute one-on-one sessions with companies that interest you. Sessions are first-come, first-served, but we also recommend revisiting your schedule closer to the event, as employers add new sessions frequently.
To make the best impression, Career Services recommends:
- Updating your Handshake profile
- Attaching your resume to your Handshake profile
- Testing your tech ahead of time
- Finding a quiet place free from distractions
Career coaches are available to review resumes, share networking tips, and more.
