Online Master's in Chemistry Admissions Information
All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. Be sure to select “online” in the Program Selection section of the application).
Admissions Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science with undergraduate chemistry courses (typically one year general chemistry, one year organic chemistry, and one semester of calculus) from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
- GPA (or equivalent) of 3.0 or better in most recent degree program
- Three letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose that:
- Includes a brief description of chemistry area(s) of interest (e.g., Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry)
- Specifically states that you are applying to the online master's program
- Includes a brief description of chemistry area(s) of interest (e.g., Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry)
- Official Transcripts of all academic work must be submitted with the online application
- Resume, which must include a list of every school attended, as well as the GPA obtained at each institution
- English Proficiency: Please review information about Ohio University’s English Language Proficiency requirements
- A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.

Application Deadlines
Students can start any semester.
The spring deadline for submitting applications is November 15.
The summer deadline is April 1.
The fall deadline is July 15.
