The purpose of this policy is to help the college cover the costs of instruction while supporting an outstanding and comprehensive curriculum. The enrollment targets represent our best estimate of the minimum number of students needed for an individual summer or overload class to cover the cost of instruction. Best practice would be to exceed minima by a substantial margin.

College Guidelines
Course enrollment is the sum of the individual enrollments of all sections of a course (undergraduate and graduate sections of dual listed courses, multiple sections of cross-listed courses, and sections for Athens, eCampus, and regional campuses) taught by the instructor.
- The instructor’s payment is determined by course enrollment on the Friday of the first week of classes.
- A course will be canceled if its enrollment is below 10 students on the Friday before the first meeting of the class. Instructors receive no compensation for canceled courses.
For courses that must be offered for programmatic reasons or to allow specific students to graduate, department chairs may request an exception to the cancellation policy. Questions should be directed to Nukhet Sandal and April Howard .
