CHSP Hilda Richards Faculty Recognition Award Guidelines

The Hilda Richards Faculty Recognition honors CHSP faculty who, like Dr. Hilda Richards, demonstrate perseverance, trailblazing leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing education, healthcare, and equity. Recipients embody Dr. Richards’ values of excellence, innovation, advocacy, mentorship, and professionalism, serving as role models who inspire colleagues, foster collaboration, uplift communities, and drive meaningful change within the College. Honorees will be celebrated publicly.

Award Guidelines

Nominations:
Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, or students. Self-nominations are welcome. 

Timeline:
Nominations for the Hilda Richards Faculty Recognition will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. To be considered for a given month's recognition, nominations must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on the last day of the month. The review committee will evaluate submissions promptly, and awardees will be announced and recognized by the 15th of the following month. Monthly honorees will automatically be considered for the annual award. 

Basic requirements for a Nomination:
Please use 11-point, Arial font.

Each nomination must include:
- Nominee Information: Name, department, and faculty rank.
- Nomination Statement: A brief (250-500-word) description highlighting how the nominee reflects Dr. Hilda Richards' values of excellence, innovation, advocacy, mentorship, professionalism, and leadership. 
- Evidence of Impact: A minimum of two concrete examples of contributions in teaching, service, research, leadership, or a combination (e.g., project outcomes, student or peer feedback, publications, community engagement).
- Nominator Information: Name, role, and relationship to the nominee.

Review Committee:
The CHSP Curriculum Committee Chairs will serve as the review and award selection committee. If one of the committee members is a nominee, a substitute committee member will be obtained for that month. 

The CHSP Curriculum Committee Chairs will review award submissions, select the recipient, and advise the CHSP Dean of its selection. If the Curriculum Committee Chairs do not reach a consensus, they will forward the names of potential recipients to the Dean, who will make the final decision.
