Outstanding Teacher
Michael Clevidence

Title:  Professor of Instruction

Nomination 1:  Mike has been the only professor at Ohio University that has demonstrated a deep interest and investment in both exercise physiology as well as the well being and success of each and every one of his students. He deserves this award because he teaches in a way and describes clearly that he wishes for each of his students to better the health of others using real practical and actually applicable information that he teaches. He demonstrates a deep understanding of his field and knows how to teach students who may not have any prior knowledge on exercise physiology. Mike exceeds the criteria described at the head of this survey.

Nomination 2: Professor Clevidence hits the criteria 1-9. His approach to teaching makes the content he delivers easy to understand goes above and beyond to ensure all his students feel on track. He is always positive and I have personally never heard a student ever complain about his teaching style. I've only heard  overwhelmingly good  things about him and it checks out.

Nomination 3:  This teacher is very passionate about their job by going above and beyond to explain and be thorough with his students. Will do exercises with students and will do whatever they can to help you be most successful with your health and fitness journey. Has helped create training programs for students on his own time willingly and the programs he creates are very well put together and are best fit for the student they are applied to. Very easy to communicate with and never feel judged or nervous to ask for help. Overall this professor is someone I aspire to be like in my future career.

Nomination 4:Mike really cares about his students, he really wants them to succeed and goes above and beyond. From personal experience he took the time to help me make a multi week training plan for my half marathon. He helps us think critically by applying exercises to both quizzes and in person when taking muscular fitness class. He is always around to help, and to make sure that each student knows what is going on and why we would be doing that specific thing. He is relatable and makes learning a fun and adaptive experience.

Nomination 5:Every time I get to interact with Mike is always "awesome". Mike is a great professor who is able to help everyone learn and persist through their challenges. Mike knows each of his students well enough to attack their challenges in a way that's unique to their learning/situation. He answers every question to the fullest extent and never makes you feel lesser for not understanding- no matter the degree of difficulty (or lack thereof). He is always interested in how we are doing and offers helpful insights when applicable.

Nomination 6:He is very engaged during class and is always trying to teach us the why behind things and sometimes during class we have to do some uncomfortable things but he makes it not a hard and takes a lot of the judgment out of the room.

Nomination 7:He has been so hands on and willing to help with anyone that asks a question. I was a TA for him and it was super easy and he encouraged learning throughout that position. Throughout the Exercise physiology classes, Mike would be the one teacher I would trust to answer any question I had.

Nomination 8:This teacher is one that truly is passionate about what he teaches and wants each student to enjoy what they are learning. He connects all material to real world examples and runs a fantastic lab.
