Belonging Mini Grants

A Belonging Mini-Grant is a grant of up to $200 for an activity in support of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging (DEIAB) in the Russ College community.

Building a culture of belonging in the Russ College community and educating ourselves about issues related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access and Belonging (DEIAB) requires a sustained effort. Members of our community have ideas that they could implement with modest support and their potential cumulative impact is large – likely larger than spending the same amount on one centrally-organized event. Belonging Mini-Grants will encourage a larger proportion of the Russ College community to engage in DEIAB work.

• ABET : ABET is the international organization that accredits engineering programs globally, including our engineering programs in the Russ College. ABET’s goal is that accredited programs will prepare students to succeed in and contribute to a diverse global workforce and workplace environment. 
• American Society for Engineering Education : ASEE’s webpage has resources, including recorded webinars, for faculty and staff working to build an inclusive environment in engineering and technology education.

DEIAB External Partnerships

• EngineeringPLUS Alliance : The Russ College is a partner in the Midwest Regional Hub of the EngineeringPLUS Alliance, a nationwide initiative to increase participation in engineering by people from diverse backgrounds.
• DataBuddies : The Russ College computer science program began participating in the DataBuddies project of the Computing Research Association in 2021.

• Biomedical Engineering: BMES , the US-based professional society for biomedical engineers, highlights their commitment to diversity here

• Chemical Engineering: AIChE , the US-based professional organization for chemical engineers, uses the acronym IDEAL (Inclusion Diversity Equity Anti-Racism Learning) to promote inclusion in the profession.

• Civil Engineering: ASCE , the US-based professional organization for civil engineers, provides a variety of resources aimed at inclusive interactions with professional colleagues and at building more inclusive infrastructure.

• Computer Science and Engineering: ACM , the Association for Computing Machinery, highlights a variety of resources and strategies to diversity participation in the computing professions and the inclusiveness of computing applications.

• Electrical Engineering: IEEE , the world's largest technical professional society, serves professionals in all aspects of the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and provides a range of resources for engineering practice and education.

• Industrial and Systems Engineering:  IISE  is the US-based professional organization for industrial and systems engineering.”
