Armann serves as an Associate Professor of instruction in aviation for the Ohio University Flight Department. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio University in 2006 and has thousands of hours of experience as a Certified Flight Instructor with IFR, CFII, and MEI as a pilot at the University.
Between his stints teaching at OHIO, he accepted a teaching position in 2015 at Kent State University (KSU). He received his ATP dispatchers’ certificate while conducting research on the Enhanced Weather Information Systems (EWINS) program to further thunderstorm avoidance for commercial pilots.
While teaching and working on his master’s degree at KSU, he played an integral role in developing a minor and major in UAV management and designed a part 107 course that allowed students and adults outside of the university to earn certification. He served as the University’s Flight Team Advisor, leading the team to numerous awards and recognitions in safety and specialty categories.
Now back at his alma matter, he serves as the advisor and head coach of the Ohio University Precision Flight Team. While working with alumni, he initiated two new student organizations and the Alpha Eta Rho Upsilon Chapter, a national aviation fraternity. He designed the formation of a new club called DRONE which brings students together as they learn the fundamentals of and how to build UAVs and pilot them.
