Research at the Russ College
The Russ College is home to world-class research in avionics engineering, and we strategically target the transportation infrastructure, energy and the environment, and bioengineering fields. We know that valuable learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom. At the Russ College, we provide a breadth of research opportunities for students at every level.
World-Class Research
The Russ College is home to world-class research in avionics engineering, and we strategically target the transportation infrastructure, energy and the environment, and bioengineering fields. In fiscal year 2012, the college reported approximately $14.6 million in research and sponsored programs, under which our researchers develop technologies ranging from electrochemical engineering processes that enable the production of hydrogen for fuel cells from wastewater, to aviation navigation systems that the FAA depends on to make our National Airspace safe, to targeted drug delivery, to onsite remediation of wastewater from hydraulic fracturing (fracking). These projects, and many more than we can list, give our students the opportunity to start creating for good.
Valuable Learning Opportunities
While educating the next generation of engineers and technologists is a crucial part of our core mission, we know that valuable learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom. At the Russ College, we provide a breadth of research opportunities for students at every level. Plus, we encourage them to think outside the lab and come up with their own research ideas. Some have even developed successful companies during their academic careers, thanks to OHIO’s Innovation Center .
