Michele Karoub-Holzschu

Adjunct Professor of Music Education

Michele Karoub-Holzschu, Adjunct Professor of Music Education has taught General Music Methods at Ohio University since 2014. Prior to becoming an adjunct faculty member at Ohio University, she taught both horn and music education courses at Asbury University and Marietta College.

For over 25 years, Michele has taught vocal and general music to preschool through middle school students in Kentucky and Ohio. During this time, she has mentored new teachers and student teaching interns as they prepared for careers in education. She has served on numerous district and regional committees, and worked closely with the Ohio University Music Education team as they developed a plan for undergraduate early field placement experiences.

As a performer, Michele has played horn in orchestras and ensembles, including the Livonia (Michigan) Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theater Detroit, the Dearborn (Michigan) Symphony Orchestra, Ars Musica, the Lexington (Kentucky) Philharmonic, and the Livonia Symphony Brass Quintet.

Michele has presented research and performed at state, regional, and national conferences, including the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) conference, the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) conference, the Music Educators National Conference (now NAFME) and the Southeast Regional Horn Workshop. She has published articles in TRIAD and Bluegrass Music News and has recently served as a Curriculum Reviewer for Quaver, the digital elementary music curriculum used worldwide.

Michele completed Orff certification at the University of Kentucky and the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Her degrees are from the University of Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University.
