The Federal Hocking Local School district currently has one afterschool program at the Middle/High school, which has been funded through the Nina M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, awarded by the Ohio Department of Education. This program serves students in grades 6-12. Students receive a snack and a bit of free time directly after school to transition into the program. They receive assistance in homework, do hands-on activities to improve reading and math skills, and explore college and career opportunities.
Previously the district had before and afterschool sites located at Amesville Elementary School and Coolville Elementary School. These sites, funded also through the Nina M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, served over 80 students. This grant ended during summer 2023. The school district and Kids on Campus continue working together to identify additional funding sources to support these students.
