Alden Library will be hosting an event for Sibs Weekend titled “From A to Zine: Sibs Weekend Zine Making Workshop” on February 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Friends Room on the third floor. Michele Jennings, art librarian and co-coordinator of the event, invites students and their siblings to come into the Library and prepare their own publications in a fun and collaborative setting.

Moonrise Artzine
"Moonrise" is an artzine created by Mitchell Keys. This zine is included in the Zine Collection, located in the Mahn Center.

“A zine is a small self-published work with the contents and structure of your choosing, and that can be circulated among your friends and community. We’ll have supplies, guided demonstrations, and a copier ready so you can share your creation with friends and family,’” Jennings said.

Jennings added that the workshop will provide students with a new way to document Sibs Weekend, and will encourage students to stop by the Library and become better acquainted with its staff and services. Jen Harvey, Library events coordinator, said that she hopes the workshop will provide students with a fun and creative activity for Sibs Weekend.

“We hope the participants will have a fun, relaxing afternoon in the Library and perhaps learn something new. Hopefully it provides a fun way for current students to introduce their siblings to the Library,” Harvey said.

The Libraries encourages all students and their siblings to stop by the workshop and learn the principles of zine making.
