Heritage College Study Space Rules

  1. Turn off all lights and other power equipment when leaving.
  2. Dispose of all trash and recycling in the proper receptacles.
  3. Erase white boards.
  4. Do not remove furniture from rooms. Return all furniture to its original placement before leaving.
  5. Allow the custodial staff access to complete routine cleaning during informal study. Impeding this function may result in restricted use.
  6. No talking in quiet study areas.
  7. Rooms are available for study space provided they are not reserved.
  8. Study space must be physically occupied by the students using it. If you are absent from the room but your personal items are left, the room will be considered unoccupied and available for other students or staff to occupy. In these instances, your personal items will be moved off to the side of the room.
  9. Be courteous to fellow students. Please limit bookings to 6 or less hours at a time.
  10. The college is NOT responsible for unattended personal items left in study space.

Keep in mind that study space is a privilege based on students' respect and care of the facilities. Study space at the Heritage College is limited, especially from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Heritage Study Areas

  • Small Group/Seminar Rooms – 8-10 seats
  • Quiet Study Space – Heritage Hall 205 – 28 seats
  • Admissions Lobby – First Floor Heritage Hall – 34 seats
  • Atrium – various number of seats
  • Open seating on Floors 1, 2, 3 – various number of seats

Group Study Areas

  1. Intended for two or more people for quiet discussion of class material.
  2. One group cannot displace another group regardless of size. Negotiate sharing the space if possible.
  3. Heritage Hall 308, 312, 316 - Rooms available – 3 rooms for up to 5 occupants
  4. Learning Resources Center – Heritage Hall 302

Academic Resource Center

  1. Open study rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are leaving for an extended period of time, you must take your belongings with you.
  2. Be courteous to others – Erase the whiteboards when you are done, and pick up after yourself.
  3. Groups have priorities over individual students, so it is acceptable to ask someone in a room by themselves to relocate if you have a group that wants the space.

Undesignated Areas

May be used for group discussion or as quiet areas. Use is determined by the preference of the first students to occupy the space.

Designated Areas

Classrooms and conference rooms are available when not scheduled for another purpose in accordance with the  Heritage College Room Scheduling Policy 6.02 . Access can be gained to buildings after hours via your ID card and swipe card readers at selected locations.

Meeting room schedules can be viewed on the display outside each room in Heritage Hall.

If the room is not reserved, it should be available to use for studying purposes.  Note that rooms CANNOT be reserved in advance to study.

Ohio University Study Space Options

Note: Space and parking rules specific to each area below may apply. Check with each site.

ARC

Rooms 203, 231, 303, and 340 are available via card reader access at all times unless previously reserved for meetings or events.

There are 13 project team rooms in the ARC that are available on a first-come, first-served basis and should always be unlocked. These rooms include 110, 131, 147, 149, 151, 157, 214, 216, 217, 219, 227, 327

Alden Library is a great place to study - seven floors of space and carrels all over the upper floors. Up-to-date information on library hours can be found here .

Margaret C. Walter Hall - first floor, small rooms available for use

Baker University Center - small rooms available

Clippinger Chemistry and Physics building - small study spaces available

Stocker Engineering building - available for Heritage College students, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gordy Hall - open until midnight; small study spaces available
