Fifty-one of OHIO's best and brightest students were welcomed onto the 2018 Bobcat Student Orientation (BSO) team. This year's student leaders come from an array of backgrounds and are filled with endless amounts of enthusiasm to help OHIO's Class of 2022 get started on the bricks.
"Every year when we hire a new staff there is such excitement and anticipation. These are fabulous students from across the university who traditionally wouldn't have the opportunity to work together," said Cimmeron O'Connor, director of Undergraduate Orientation Programs. "They come together based on their desire to help others and love for their school."
The new Orientation Leaders will be spending the remainder of the semester preparing for the arrival of students and parents. These preparations include a weekly seminar course about leadership, academic information such as math and chemistry placement, and most importantly getting to know the strengths of those they will be working with this summer.
"The summer orientation experience is really based on learning from your peers. We emmulate this experience during our training, as the returning staff share their knowledge with our new staff and that is what is truly wonderful to observe. I really enjoy watching our staff grow as individuals, learn more about themselves and find new ways to give back to incoming students," added O'Connor.
