Note: In Ohio, these courses can only be used for recertification by teachers who are currently employed full-time in an Ohio school district and who are under the purview of an LPDC. All other teachers wishing to renew will need to take college credit. It is the responsibility of every teacher to get any course pre-approved before registration. CEUs will only be awarded to students receiving a C+ (78%) or better on each exam in their coursework.
*A Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is comprised of 10 professional development (PD) contact hours approved by a Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC).
Ohio Revised Code (Section 3319.22) assigns LPDCs the responsibility of reviewing educators’ PD activities as part of their Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP) and determining if they meet licensure renewal requirements. Professional developers interested in providing CEUs to participants may supply them with a statement of contact hour verification, which educators provide to their LPDCs.
