Course Registration

As part of your program orientation, our student success team will guide you through the process of class enrollment. Course registration opens on specific dates each semester, so depending on your admission date, you may need to wait before enrolling. Rest assured, you are guaranteed a place in all core classes and those requiring special permission within the program.

While we encourage timely registration, it’s crucial to wait for our assigned classes to avoid registering for incorrect sections. Detailed registration policies and procedures can be accessed on the Office of the Registrar’s website and in the Graduate Catalog . Deadline dates are listed in the course offerings and can be viewed by clicking the calendar icon next to each class in your MyOHIO Student Center .

For full-semester classes, additional deadline dates are published in the academic calendar

An overview of the registration process is also covered in the Graduate Student Orientation . It’s important to familiarize yourself with this information and feel free to reach out to the student success team for assistance. We want to ensure you start the program well-informed about the procedures for adding and dropping classes.

  • Adding

Ideally, you should enroll in your classes before the semester begins to allow time to acquire any course materials and start on the first day of classes. However, you have until the add deadline, typically during the first week of classes and by 5 p.m. EST for each individual class, to enroll. If you need assistance determining the add deadline date or anticipate not enrolling before the semester starts, please contact the student success team promptly.

  • Dropping and Withdrawing

If you need to drop or withdraw from a class, please contact the student success team . We will provide guidance on the implications, process, and next steps. Understanding these details is crucial, especially when there is a mix of full semester and half-semester classes.

If you find it necessary to withdraw from a class, please reach out to us in advance for advice and course sequencing guidelines. This will allow us to assist you in planning your future course of action.
