Mission and Goals
The mission of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, & Belonging (DEIAB) Faculty Affairs Council is to cultivate a commitment to recruiting, developing, and retaining diverse faculty through inclusive practices and policies that lead to a welcoming, respectful, supportive, and affirming environment for all faculty.
To accomplish this, the DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council will:
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement in policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to Ohio University departments, schools, and offices on diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging faculty matters.
- Offer advice and recommendations to Ohio University leadership regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging faculty affairs priorities, needs, opportunities, and capacity-building.
- Explore effective evidence-based practices at other institutions related to faculty recruitment, development, and retention.
Council Membership
Tenure-track, instructional, or clinical faculty and full-time staff/administrators are eligible to serve on the DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council. Any tenure-track, instructional, clinical faculty or staff/administrator may nominate a tenure-track, instructional, clinical faculty, staff/administrator, or student to serve on the committee, including self-nominations. Nominations should be directed to the Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP) at provost@ohio.edu .
Projects
To achieve its mission, the DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council strives to complete two to five projects annually. Broadly, each project is designed to advance Ohio University’s commitment to culture of continuous improvement in policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
Annually, projects are proposed by members of the committee and discussed with the Executive Vice President & Provost.
