Each year, Ohio University Zanesville celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. throughout the month of January.
The month-long celebration honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with inclusive tributes that highlight equality and social justice. We honor Dr. King for his work toward racial equality and justice for all people and for his dedication to nonviolence.

28th Annual MLK Scholarship Fund Awards
Join us virtually by tuning into WHIZ TV at 12:30 pm on Monday, January 17, 2022.
The MLK Scholarship Fund Prayer breakfast will be virtual celebrating MLK academic achievers and Transitions Inc- Domestic Violence Shelter. Join us as we recognize local scholarship recipients.
Food drive donations can be dropped off a Christ's Table located at 28 S. 6th Street in downtown Zanesville, Ohio. For large donations contact the Muskingum County Hunger Network at 740.453.8130.

Featured Speaker: Dr. Bernard Lafayette
The Rev. Dr. Bernard Lafayette, one of the original Freedom Fighters, is an American civil rights activist, organizer, and a leader of the civil rights movement. He played a leading role in early organizing of the Selma voting rights movement; was a member of the Nashville Student Movement; and worked closely throughout the 1960s movements with groups such as the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the American Friends Service Committee. Moderator for this event is the Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr.

Campus Conversation: When Thoughts and Prayers Are Not Enough
During this Campus Conversation, The Rt. Rev. W. Michie Klusmeyer (“Bishop Mike”) will share his experiences and history and lead us through his Seven Steps to End Racism. He currently serves as the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia.
