My name is Phibawan Syiemlieh, and I am a doctoral student in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Ohio University. I am writing this email to request you to invite your students to participate in my research study examining the relationship between guilt and shame proneness, supervisee self-disclosure, and the supervision working alliance in counseling supervision (IRB-FY25-289). The purpose of this study is to explore how guilt and shame proneness impact supervisees’ self-disclosure and the quality of the supervisory working alliance during clinical supervision. By participating, you will be contributing to a deeper understanding of factors that impact counselor training and professional growth. Participant Eligibility To participate in this study, you must * Be 18 years of age or older. * Be either: * A counseling student currently enrolled in a practicum or internship course at a CACREP-accredited institution and under clinical supervision, physically located in the United States of America, or * A licensed professional counselor currently under clinical supervision, physically located in the United States of America What to Expect If you choose to participate, you will complete a survey designed to gather information on your levels of guilt and shame, your level of self-disclosure during supervision and your supervision experiences with your supervisor. The survey is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Voluntary Participation and Confidentiality Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time without any consequence. All responses will be kept confidential, and no personal identifying information will be collected. Potential Benefits and Risks Your insights will help inform best practices in clinical supervision and counselor training. While answering some questions, you may experience discomfort due to reflecting on past experiences or emotions. Support resources will be provided in the event that any distress arises.
