Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service Scholarships

There are multiple scholarship opportunities available to current undergraduate and graduate students in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service. There is no application process, as eligible students are automatically considered for the scholarships listed on this page.

Scholarships Open to All Students

Harry G. and Bridget S. Hampson Scholarship

The Harry G. and Bridget S. Hampson Scholarship will provide an award to students who meet the outlined criteria. The recipient must:

  • Be a student enrolled in or accepted for admission to Ohio University.
  • Be involved with the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
  • Have graduated from a high school in the state of Ohio.

The Mark L. Weinberg Leadership Scholarship

The Mark L Weinberg Leadership Scholarship will provide awards to students who meet all of the following criteria. Recipients must:

  • Be a student enrolled in or accepted for admission to the University.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted for admission to the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
  • Show exemplary academic merit or leadership experience, as determined by the University.

James R. and Cathy L. Tilling Endowed Scholarship

The James R. and Cathy L. Tilling Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the University and The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
  • Demonstrated financial need based on federal financial aid standards, as determined by the University’s Financial Aid Office.
  • First preference will be given to a Voinovich Undergraduate Research Scholar who is a political science major or to a graduate student who is enrolled in either Voinovich School’s Master of Public Administration program or the Master of Science in Environmental Studies program.
  • If no student meets the above criteria, second preference will go to a student at the discretion of the Voinovich School. 

Mary Ann's Fund For Voinovich Scholars

Mary Ann’s Fund for Voinovich Scholars will provide awards to students who meet all of the outlined criteria: 

  • Be full-time undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the University.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted to the Voinovich Undergraduate Research Scholars program or successor program.
  • Be students working on projects related to environmental sustainability.
  • Be students from one of the thirty-two counties in Ohio currently designated as Appalachian or designated as Appalachian in the future, as determined by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). 

Graduate Student Scholarships

Marianne Post Arlia Master of Public Administration Scholarship

The Marianne Post Arlia Master of Public Administration Scholarship will provide awards to students who meet all of the following criteria. Recipients must:

  • Be graduate students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the University’s Master of Public Administration program.
  • Have demonstrated academic merit.
  • Have demonstrated financial need.

Marty Wall, MPA, Scholarship in Public Administration (Non-Profit Management)

The Marty Wall, MPA, Scholarship in Public Administration (Nonprofit Management) will provide awards to students who meet all of outlined criteria. Recipients must: 

  • Be graduate students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the University.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted for admission to any OHIO Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, including the Executive MPA and Online MPA programs.
  • Intend to pursue the Non-Profit Management concentration or be working in a nonprofit organization.

    Lillian Peterson, this year’s Harry G. and Bridget S. Hampson Scholarship recipient, is passionate about driving meaningful and challenging work to improve people's livelihoods in her community. The Voinovich School’s MPA Program is helping her merge her expertise by providing her with essential leadership and management skills.

  • Jamie McGrew Empowers Change in Appalachia


    Jamie McGrew plays a crucial role in ensuring a comprehensive range of behavioral health services is available across seven counties in Southeast Ohio. Her current focus is dedicating her career to helping children and families, especially in areas profoundly affected by poverty. This drive led her to the Voinovich School’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program , where she was recently awarded the Marianne Post Arlia Scholarship.

  • Aidan Tansey: Shaping a future in conservation through the Voinovich School


    Through his work at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Aidan Tansey found his way to the MPA Program at the Voinovich School. Tansey, who was recently honored with the Marty Wall MPA Scholarship in Public Administration, plans to leverage his degree to further his career and advance the zoo's conservation and educational mission.
