A CeDiploma or CeCertificate from Ohio University can be validated online in two ways:

Ohio University Credential Validation Page

To confirm the authenticity of a CeCredential, we strongly recommend visiting the Ohio University Credential Validation webpage. There, you can enter:

  • The 12-digit CeDiD(located in the upper corner of the CeCredential), and
  • The first two lettersof the graduate’s first name, exactly as it appears on the diploma or certificate.

This provides an added layer of validation to ensure the credential is current and accurate.

Digital Signature Verification

All CeCredentials issued by Ohio University are digitally signed by CeCredential Trust. When viewed using Adobe Reader or Acrobat (version 9.0 or higher), the digital signature will be visible.

A blue ribbonacross the top of the document indicates:

  • The document has not been altered, and
  • The credential is authentic and trusted.

This signature provides assurance that the CeCredential is secure and valid.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I view my CeCredential?

A CeCredential is a secure PDF. In order to access the PDF, you must have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. To download the Acrobat Reader, please visit the Adobe website .

Can I download the CeCredential? Can I send it via email to others?

Yes, you can download a digitally signed copy of your CeCredential. You can then email it to anyone you desire, and it will retain the Adobe Digital Signature and CeDiD for validation purposes.

Why does the certificate used to digitally sign the documents say CeCredential Trust?

CeCredential Trust is the branded name of the digital signature that Ohio University's vendor uses to digitally sign all CeCredentials.

When I pull up my CeCredential on my iPhone/iPad it only loads half way on the screen and then a line appears.

This issue is due to the version of your operating system on your iPhone/iPad, or your PDF viewer that the browser is using to open the CeCredential. In the case of the iPhone/iPad, updating to the most recent operating system (iOS) usually solves the problem.

I am using a web browser to open the PDF, but it will not open properly.

The CeCredential is best viewed in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. Some features may not be available when viewed in a web browser's default viewer. Please change the default viewer in your web browser so that it utilizes Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

My digital signature is yellow and says, "The validity of the document certification is UNKNOWN. The author could not be verified." What do I do?

Your trusted certificates may be out of date. In order to ensure that your digital signature can be properly read, make sure to update your AATL trusted certificates in the Trust Manager of Adobe Reader or Acrobat. To do this in Adobe Acrobat DC, go to Edit => Preferences => Trust Manager. Then, in the section for Automatic Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL) updates, click the Update Now button.

What if I try to print my CeCredential?

The CeCredential has printing disabled as a security feature. Your CeCredential is official as long as it is in its original form.
