OCOM 8040 - Pediatrics


The required four-week course in pediatrics is designed to provide the 3rd year student with didactic and clinical experiences in the diagnosis and management of the pediatric patient with either normal or pathological physiologic processes. The course will allow the student to gain expertise, knowledge and concepts of the natural course of disease and normal growth and development of the pediatric patient.

Course Outcomes
  • A set of learning objectives is provided to guide the student’s learning activities and to serve as a baseline for assessment of the student’s knowledge, skills, and professional behavior.
  • During the General Pediatrics Rotation, students are expected to develop their competencies in many basic clinical skills.
  • The purpose of this rotation is to provide the student with an overview of the clinical specialty of General Pediatrics.
