All forms of mass communication, including newspapers, magazines, broadcast, online, book publishing, public relations, advertising, and photojournalism. Analysis of communication process and media career opportunities.

  • Analyze and be able to discuss the power and influence that the media have in the public sphere.
  • Be aware of the relationship between mass media and political systems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the significance and impact of mass communications in a global society.
  • Develop an appreciation for legal and ethical issues associated with mass media in a large, diverse democracy.
  • Develop an appreciation for some of the theories and research that explain our relationship with the mass media and mediated communication.
  • Learn how different mass media platforms disseminate topical and current affairs events to targeted markets.
