PBIO 2090 - Plant Ecology


Basic concepts, theory, and applied aspects of plant ecology. Focus on the interactions of plants with their environment (biotic and abiotic) over a range of spatial and temporal scales.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to describe the fundamental principles of plant ecology
  • Students will be able to explain the key principals of the scientific process and give examples of its use in plant ecology
  • Students will be able to use knowledge of plant ecological processes to explain ecological patterns across multiple temporal and spatial scales
  • Students will be able to identify key interactions amongst plants and their abiotic and biotic environment
  • Students will be able to describe how evolution can shape ecological interactions
  • Students will be able to apply knowledge of plant ecology to assess the impacts of climate change at several levels of organization
