JOUR 4860 - Advertising and Public Relations Capstone
The capstone course for the Strategic Communication track provides a campaign development experience. Developing an advertising or public relations campaign synthesizes research, writing and production skills, as well as critical and creative thinking, and theory application. Students partner with a client to produce the advertising or public relations campaign.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to critically state, describe and analyze marketing/advertising/public relations/communication issues and problems.
- Students will be able to synthesize academic knowledge and relevant experience in creating and testing integrated marketing communication message strategies.
- Students will be able to understand and apply a variety of communication strategies used in the advertising and public relations industries.
- Students will be able to create and plan media programs to reach target audiences effectively and efficiently using integrated communication platforms.
- Students will be able to analyze and solve practical real-world problems in a collaborative classroom setting while fostering a constructive team climate and managing team conflict.
- Students will be apply concepts and theories in the use and presentation of images and information.
- Students will be able to demonstrate they can think critically, creatively and independently.
- Students will be able to critically evaluate written work and write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for their campaign projects, and the audiences they serve.
