Program Overview
The Jewish studies certificate program provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Jewish history, culture, and literature. The program brings together a number of disciplines (history, classics and religious studies, English, Jewish studies, and political science).
Students will take one of three basic courses (in biblical literature or Jewish history) and then a sampling of courses offered in five different areas, with at least one course in four of the five areas.

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
Change of Program Policy
To apply for the certificate, a student should fill out the Update of Program form .
External Transfer Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
The graduates with this certificate will have an increased knowledge about Jewish history, culture, and literature.
Requirements
Required Course
Complete one of the following courses:
- CARS 3000 - The Hebrew Bible (Christian Old Testament, Jewish Tanakh) Credit Hours: 3
- HIST 3281 - Jewish History Since 1492 Credit Hours: 3
Classics and Religious Studies
May complete one of the following courses:
- CARS 2110 - Rome Under the Caesars Credit Hours: 3
- CARS 2120 - Ancient Jerusalem: From Solomon to Suleiman Credit Hours: 3
- CARS 2130 - Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic World Credit Hours: 3
English
May complete one of the following courses:
- ENG 3040 - English Bible Credit Hours: 3
- ENG 3240 - Jewish American Literature Credit Hours: 3
- ENG 3340 - Israeli Literature Credit Hours: 3
History
May complete one of the following courses:
- HIST 3290 - Ancient Near East: Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Levant Credit Hours: 3
- HIST 3371 - Middle East History 1500 to the present Credit Hours: 3
- HIST 3532 - History of the Crusades Credit Hours: 3
- HIST 3562 - Muslims, Christians, and Jews in the History of Medieval Spain Credit Hours: 3

Political Science
