Program Overview
The Technical and Applied Studies Certificate program of study addresses the ongoing demand for individuals who possess “soft skills” and knowledge for the workplace pertaining to leadership, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and problem solving. Students will learn leadership concepts as well as practical skills that can be applied in the organization. The importance of having a diverse workplace that is inclusive and collaborative is explained in terms of the value diverse life experiences and various world views aid in reaching new markets and enhancing problem-solving efforts. In addition, a working knowledge of how to optimize the effectiveness of work groups and teams are explored and applied. While the student develops knowledge in their discipline, those “hard skills” are complemented with the traits, knowledge, and “soft skills” developed and applied in this certificate to set the graduate apart and provide what employers seek.
*Certificate approved by HLC on 8/11/23.
