Dr. Robinson and Dr. Beamish,

I thought you might know other students who would be interested in this
opportunity and could pass it along. I also posted it on the Facebook page
and sent out a message.

Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council,

Statewide Independent Living Council &

Governor's Council on People with Disabilities

will host

Developing Successful

Employment Opportunities

-A forum for Ohioans with disabilities

In April 2009, the U.S. Department of Labor listed the percent of people
with disabilities in the labor force at only 22.8% as compared to 70.9% for
people without disabilities. Surveys have shown over and over gain that
individuals with disabilities want to work. However, the opportunities and
services to support people with disabilities I gaining employment are not
working. We need to find out why!

People with disabilities, their families, friends and people who serve them
are invited to attend this open forum and give their:

. Experiences about what is preventing them from getting a job,

. Suggestions about how to make services work, or

. Opinions about what changes could be made to improve Ohio's
employment statistics.

Now is the time to hear from people with disabilities themselves about how
to make positive change. All testimony will be recorded. Following the
event, a summary will be prepared, as well as recommendations to improve
gainful employment for people with all types of disabilities. This report
will be shared with people who can make a difference-service providers,
legislators, government officials, employers and others.

The forum is free and open to the public. Come prepared to provide oral (not
more than five minutes) or written testimony, or to support those who are
presenting at the hearing. The day will begin with a keynote speaker and
lunch will be provided.

To receive further details and registration information, please send your
name and email address to <mailto: axiscenter at aoo.com

Feel free to share this "Save the Date" announcement.
