OCA Members,

Over 80 individuals are already confirmed to attend the 4th Annual Counselor Legislative Advocacy Day on Thurs., April 22nd at 9:30 - 1:30 at the Statehouse in Columbus.  There is one week left to register for this interactive CEU event at https://www.ohiocounseling.org/advocacy.htm 
Guest speakers will include:

*	Rep. Kenny Yuko (Sponsor of Mental Health Hold Bill for Clinical Counselors)
*	Sandra Stephenson (Executive Director of Ohio Dept. of Mental Health - ODMH)
*	Angel Rhodes (Candidate for State Rep. District 22 - http://www.angelrhodes.com/ 
/ Counselor Ed., U. of Dayton)
*	Carolyn Towner & Amanda Sines (Lobbyist, Towner Policy Group)
*	Susie Boggs (OSCA President / School Counselor, Tolles Career & Technical Center)

*	9:30-10:00 a.m. - Importance / Overview of Legislative Advocacy
*	10:00-10:30 a.m. - State Counseling Advocacy Issues (Towner Policy Group)
*	10:30-10:50 a.m. - Demonstration/Tips to Meet with Legislator
*	10:50-11:00 a.m. - Break
*	11:00-12:00 - Meet with Legislator / Work on Projects
*	12:00-1:00 p.m. - Lunch / Rep. Kenny Yuko & Exec. Director of ODMH Sandra Stephenson
*	1:00-1:30 p.m. - Federal Counseling Advocacy Issues / Wrap-Up
*	(optional tour of the historic Ohio statehouse at 1:45 p.m. after the event)

With recent changes to healthcare, it is important for Professional Counselors to learn and practice advocating for the ability to provide critical services for clients and students in schools and communities.
