This unique opportunity is for students currently enrolled in CACREP accredited master's or doctoral degree programs. Students will gain first hand experience with CACREP's quality assurance function at both the national and international level. A $1,000 stipend is offered for each project opportunity posted. The CACREP Board has determined that the first special project will focus on the relationship between CACREP's accreditation of school counseling programs and counselor credentialing. The project will require the selected student to conduct research on school counselor credentialing issues and develop a proactive plan of action for CACREP to address any issues or concerns. The student's work will be supervised by CACREP's President and CEO, Dr. Carol Bobby, whose doctoral degree is in counselor education. CACREP is willing, if so desired, to work with a student's preparation program to determine whether the student can receive credit (e.g., independent study, special internship) for this experience. The selected student will possess the following qualifications: . Is an advanced master's level student or is a doctoral student in a CACREP accredited program (preference will be given to applicants with a background in or focus on school counseling) . Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills . Pays high level of attention to details and accuracy of information . Can commit to an average of 5-10 hours per week for the duration of the project . Is organized and able to work independently and from a distance . Is willing to travel occasionally, as needed and at CACREP's expense, to CACREP's offices in Alexandria, VA for direction and supervision. To apply, students should submit the following electronically to cacrep at cacrep.org by 5:00 PM EST on Monday, March 15, 2009: 1) A cover letter addressed to Dr. Carol Bobby describing the student's interest in serving as a Special Project Coordinator 2) A writing sample on a topic related to school counseling 3) Two (2) letters of endorsement from faculty members in your program 4) A current copy of the applicant's CV or resume.
