Ratts Sent: Monday, October 04, 2010 3:24 AM To: CESNET-L at LISTSERV.KENT.EDU Subject: Starting a Counselors for Social Justice University Chapter Hello, As President-elect of Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) (www.counselorsforsocialjustice.com< http://www.counselorsforsocialjustice.com >), a division of the American Counseling Association (AC), I am emailing to share one of our membership initiatives for the 2010-2011 academic year. We are encouraging students and counselor educators to establish CSJ chapters at your colleges and universities. That counselor educators and graduate students represent the majority of CSJ's membership base makes this initiative very attainable. The benefits of having a CSJ chapter at your university are many. Students and faculty could partner to bring social justice to the forefront of their counselor training programs, it provides opportunities to promote social justice research, and it allows higher education institutions to connect with the national CSJ organization. Many CSJ chapters at colleges and universities have already been created at such institutions as Seattle University (www.sucsj.org< http://www.sucsj.org >) and the University of Florida. If you are interested in starting up a CSJ chapter at your university or college, and would like assistance, please do not hesitate to contact a sub-committee of the CSJ Membership Committee: * Manivong J.
