The department offers three CACREP-accredited graduate programs: Community Counseling, School Counseling, and Pastoral Counseling. The position responsibilities include: The department seeks a practitioner-based counselor educator with an interest in research who shares our vision for training highly competent and effective professional counselors. Applicants should demonstrate a professional interest and teaching experience in the following areas: appraisal, multicultural counseling, skill development, and/or counseling theories. The applicant will also be required to advise students, participate in University service requirements, and engage in active scholarship. Qualifications: Applicants must possess a doctorate in Counselor Education (or have all of the requirements completed at time of hire) and be licensed or license eligible as a professional counselor in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Washington, D.C.. Candidates should also hold certification with NBCC and demonstrate evidence of a research agenda or a clear potential for scholarly activities. Preference will be given to applicants from a CACREP-accredited program, documented clinical experience in the field of community counseling, and active professional involvement with NBCC and/or ACA. A commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as a commitment to service is essential. Experience in pastoral counseling is desirable but not required.
