FACULTY POSITION DESCRIPTION

COUNSELOR EDUCATION

Position:                Tenure track, graduate faculty position
Starting Date:       August 2011

Responsibilities

 *   The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester (three graduate courses). The successful candidate will teach graduate level courses in the School and Clinical Counseling programs.
 *   Successful candidate will teach core curriculum area courses such as Theories and Techniques of Counseling, Human Growth and Development, Tests and Appraisal, and Career and Lifestyle Counseling, along with courses specific to the candidate's expertise in either School or Clinical Counseling.
 *   Advise and mentor students.
 *   Serve on departmental, school, and institutional committees.
 *   Engage in community service, and scholarship.

Qualifications

 *   Prefer earned Doctorate, preferably from a CACREP accredited institution, but must have a Master's degree in Counseling and be willing to complete a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education.
 *   A School Counseling expertise is preferred, but a Clinical Counseling professional will be considered.
 *   Minimum of three years of post-graduate experience working as a profession school and/or clinical counselor.
 *   Must be licensed as an Ohio School Counselor or as a Professional Counselor, or provide written proof of eligibility for licensure in Ohio.
 *   Must articulate an informed understanding of the current issues facing professional counselors and the related professional challenges and changes in the field of counseling.
 *   Graduate teaching experience, as the primary or sole instructor, in counselor education preferred.
 *   Deep personal commitment to Jesus Christ and an understanding of and commitment to the integration of faith and learning in the academic discipline.

Department Information
The Counseling and Human Development programs include the Clinical Counseling program, which is approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board and the School Counseling program, which is approved by the Ohio Department of Education as well as a program in Classroom-Based Counseling and Advocacy. Our programs currently enroll have over 160 degree and/or license seeking graduate students. CACREP accreditation is currently being sought.

Malone University
Malone University is a Christian university for the arts, sciences and professions, in the liberal arts tradition.  The University is affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region.  The students, faculty and staff represent more than 35 denominations.  Total enrollment is approximately 2,600 students with 1,500 undergraduates as well as adult degree-completion programs and graduate programs offering 5 master's degrees.
