TENURE TRACK FACULTY IN CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION & ALLIED STUDIES

The Department of Education and Allied Studies seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This is a tenure track position in a CACREP-accredited master’s program to begin August 2012.  

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program consists of 60 semester hours of academic course work and leads to a Master of Arts degree upon successful completion of all requirements. The program is accredited by CACREP and approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapy Board. The degree is designed to meet the current academic requirements of the State of Ohio for the licenses: Professional Counselor (PC) and Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC). Also, the Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree meets the academic requirements for the National Counselor Certification (NCC) of the National Board for Certified Counselors. Counselors licensed as PCCs in the State of Ohio function at an independent practice level, allowing them to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders without supervision. PCCs may also supervise other counselors and maintain a private practice 

•Teaching: graduate level courses in clinical mental health and active advisement (Some teaching opportunities at satellite sites)

•Scholarship: Expectation for scholarly publication/research in the counselor education field

•Service: Involvement in both program and department service responsibilities as well as professional organizations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Earned doctorate in counselor education preferably from a CACREP accredited program

•Valid license, or license eligible, as a Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio   

•Interest and evidence of potential in research and publications in the field of Clinical Mental Health Counseling

•Ability to teach graduate courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Experience with supervising counseling practicum and internship students

•Experience with CACREP accreditation standards

•Experience teaching graduate level courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

•Scholarly record in the area of Clinical Mental Health Counseling

•Interest/experience in spirituality or forensic counseling for potential certificate programs

•Active participation in state/national counseling organizations and related community organizations 

•Experience and/or interest in offering courses via distance learning using video technology
