SPECIAL NOTIFICATION:  This position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission.
The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation has an exciting opportunity for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor working with a general caseload in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  This individual will be a high energy, compassionate, flexible, and motivated self starter that shares our passion.
Duties: 

Determines clients' eligibility for service, extent and nature of client disability, and client need for and feasibility of rehabilitation services. 
Collects, analyzes, and interprets medical, psychological, educational, social, and employment information regarding each client. 
Assists clients in determining appropriate vocational goals. 
Prescribes and interprets standardized tests for use in vocational guidance, and assists the client in making a feasible vocational rehabilitation choice. 
Counsels and assists clients with their personal adjustment throughout the rehabilitation program. 
Arranges for medical treatment, including surgery, psychiatric care, occupational and physical therapy, prosthetic appliances and other auxiliary services. 
Consults with psychiatrists and physicians regarding findings of client evaluations/examinations. 
Assesses vocational, social, economic and medical needs through appropriate testing, securing of medical reports, etc., and makes eligibility decisions based on this informa­tion. 
Determines specific needs and helps develop rehabilitation plans to remediate these needs through a comprehensive study of the client's background. 
Plans and arranges for courses of study or training and supervises the applicant's training program. 
Markets to employers in developing employment opportunities and places clients, to include post-employ­ment follow‑up. 
Counsels and guides the clients in the establishment of small business enterprises and supervises the selection and financ­ing of business needs. 
Assess clients' financial ability to participate in their rehabilitation program. 
Serves as consultant to representatives of public and private entities in relation to issues surrounding persons with disabilities. 
Maintains appropriate case records and authorizes fiscal expenditures. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

A Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a current Certification (CRC) as a Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) or;  
A Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or; 
Current (CRC) Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC). 
A Master's Degree in Counseling with the LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) credential as defined by the Idaho Licensing Board of Professional Counseling.   
A Master's Degree in a related field to include but not limited to:  Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Special Education.  A course on Theories and Techniques of Counseling, as defined by CRCC, must be included in the related Master's Degree.  Assistance will be provided to employees to investigate additional coursework and programs that offer stipends.  Must complete additional coursework and employment requirements within 5 years of hire date. 
Candidates must also successfully pass a comprehensive background check (clearance) conducted by the Idaho Department of Corrections in order to visit and/or work at IDOC facilities. 

Desired Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a current Certification (CRC) as a Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC).  Starting wage will be $37,000 per year for those individuals who possess the CRC Certification. 
A Master's Degree in Counseling with the LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) credential as defined by the Idaho Licensing Board of Professional Counseling.  Starting wage will be $37,000 per year for those individuals who possess the CRC Certification. 
Previous experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
