The College of Education at the University of West Georgia is doctoral granting and NCATE-accredited, a recognized leader in preparing exemplary practitioners for all educational roles. The College offers high level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, and opportunities to work with graduate students at all levels and to partner with school districts. Position Description The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including (1) teaching graduate courses, including on-line instruction; (2) conducting meaningful research and scholarship; (3) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work and professional service; (4) advising students; (5) supervising students in field experiences; and (6) working collaboratively with doctoral programs in the College of Education. Additional program information is located at http://www.westga.edu/csa/ Required Qualifications * Earned doctorate in higher education administration, counseling or counselor education (from a CACREP-accredited program), college student affairs, or a closely related field * A minimum of 3 years of experience working in student services in higher education settings * A demonstrated understanding of student affairs, awareness of current significant issues in higher education, and the ability to effectively integrate diversity and social justice perspectives into the curriculum * Commitment to working collaboratively with other faculty and practitioners to incorporate the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies into a cohesive experience for graduate students * Evidence of successful teaching experience * A record of active participation in professional organizations * Demonstrated commitment to and evidence of an established or emerging research and publication agenda * Experience with technology and/or online teaching in educational settings * Must be able to maintain an active career balanced across the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service Preferred Qualifications Commitment to or experience with: * Integrating a clear focus on diversity and social justice into teaching, service, and research * Engaging in collaborative activities and entrepreneurial endeavors with campus partners * Supporting graduate student research * *eaching a broad range of graduate courses in college student affairs and counseling * Delivering and developing on-line instruction * *orking collaboratively with program colleagues to expand curricula using multiple delivery formats * Working collaboratively across disciplines at the department level * Serving on and/or chairing doctoral dissertation committees * Securing external funding and managing projects Application Process Applications will be reviewed beginning August 17, 2012, and will continue until position is filled.
