The mission of the RRTC is to enhance employment and independent living outcomes for individuals who are blind or visually impaired through research, training, education, and dissemination. The major responsibility of this position is conducting applied social science research; this will involve providing leadership on the implementation of an existing study, as well as assisting in the conduction of other existing studies. Specific work activities will include survey development, data collection, data management, data analysis, preparation of peer-reviewed publications, translation of research findings into training and website materials, and supervision of research assistants. This individual will be expected to design new research studies and develop proposals for external funding. Minimum qualifications for an Assistant Research Professor are a terminal degree in rehabilitation, psychology, special education, sociology, or a related field; evidence of research productivity; two years experience conducting applied research; expertise in data management, quantitative methodology, and statistical analyses; expertise using a variety of software, including spreadsheets and statistical packages, among others; and excellent writing skills. ABD applications will be considered, but candidate must possess their PhD prior to employment start date. To begin as an Associate Research Professor, a successful candidate, in addition to meeting the above criteria, must have consistently demonstrated ability to perform at a level of excellence appropriate for the rank. Preferred qualifications are experience in the blindness field, particularly with the Randolph-Sheppard program. We are now reviewing applications.
