Subject: Faculty Position - George Mason University

We are excited to announce a new faculty line for a nontenure position focusing on teaching and coordination of clinical services for the Counseling and Development program at George Mason University. Official Advertisement is below:

Assistant/Associate Professor Counseling and Development (Nontenure-Track)

The George Mason University, College of Education and Human Development is adding a full-time term (nontenure-track) faculty position in its Counseling and Development Program—a nationally recognized graduate program with a mission focused on social justice, multicultural counseling, advocacy and leadership.

The program is seeking a faculty member with a strong commitment to the program mission and a strong teaching and clinical background in school and/or community counseling. An earned doctorate is required. Applicants must also be capable of coordinating clinical program field experiences and working with a highly collaborative professional team providing international, national and state leadership in research, program development and service.

In 2008, George Mason University was cited by the U.S. News & World Reports the number one national university to watch on its list of Up and Coming Schools that has recently made the most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus and facilities; and has been identified by the Princeton Review as one of the most diverse universities in the U.S.

The College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University (cehd.gmu.edu/) is a dynamic academic unit committed to innovation, excellence, and the promotion of social justice through its teaching, research and service activities, which include a wide-range of collaborative field-based programs, research initiatives, and outreach partnerships with schools, businesses and community agencies. Just 16 miles west of Washington, D.C., in Fairfax, Va. (with some programs located at campuses in Arlington and Prince William), George Mason University is a state-supported institution enrolling over 32,000 students and is located in a region characterized by excellent K-12 schools and community agency facilities, leadership in technology, and significant cultural diversity. The College of Education and Human Development thus provides an ideal site for educational researchers and scholar-practitioners with an applied, collaborative orientation and an interest in preparing counseling professionals for the challenges of the 21st century.
In recent years the College of Education and Human Development has experienced accelerated growth and has emerged as one of the nation’s top education schools. It has done so by attracting a diverse blend of experienced and newer faculty to work in an environment that values equity, intellectual creativity, strong faculty governance, and opportunities to affiliate with multiple programs. Consistent with the college’s core values of collaboration, ethical leadership, innovation, research-based practice, and social justice—preference will be given in each search to candidates who manifest these themes in their teaching, research and service activities.

For full consideration, applicants must apply for position number F8373z at http://jobs.gmu.edu/;
complete and submit the online faculty application; and upload a cover letter, CV, and list of three professional references with contact information.

George Mason University is an equal opportunity employer encouraging diversity.
