"There is so much good in the worst of us, so much bad in the best of us, that it scarcely behooves any of us, to talk about the rest of us" (Allport, 1979, pg. 400)
"The task of resisting our own oppression does not relieve us of the responsibility of acknowledging our complicity in the oppression of others" (Adams , et al., pg 8).
"We are inclined to prejudge in favor of our own life." (Allport, p. 74)
"Any attempt to 'soften' the power of the oppressor in deference to the weakness of the oppressed almost always manifests itself in the form of false generosity" (Freire, pg. 44).
"If we foresee evil in our fellow man [sic], we tend to provoke it, if good, we elicit it (Allport, pg. 160)."
A "true" form of praxis - that which "transform[s] the world" - is comprised of an equal balance of two essential elements on the part of the oppressed: action and reflection (Freire, pg. 87).
