Show, by your actions, that you choose peace over war, freedom over oppression, voice over silence, service over self-interest, respect over advantage, cooperation over competition, action over passivity, diversity over uniformity, and justice over all.

2013 Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) and Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) Service Day
A Call for Volunteers
AMCD and CSJ are excited to announce the 2013 AMCD/CSJ Service Day at the American Counseling Association (ACA) national conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Presidents Dr. Tarrell Portman (AMCD) and Dr. Rhonda Bryant (CSJ) have asked that we partner counseling professionals/leaders with emerging professionals/graduate students to use their skills in counseling outreach efforts with the diverse and multicultural community of Cincinnati. In this spirit, AMCD and CSJ are hoping to recruit 20-30 volunteers, both professionals and students, to participate in community service during the 2013 ACA Conference in Cincinnati.
The 2013 Service Day will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Teams of professionals and students will complete a 3-6 hour service day project at the site of a community partner in Cincinnati. Volunteers will be assigned to committees and will receive training and assist in planning the Service Day prior to March 21. Volunteers should arrive in Cincinnati the day prior to the March 21 Service Day. The purpose of the Wednesday March 20 meeting will be to meet each other and finalize arrangements. The meeting is scheduled from 5 pm until 7 pm, and more specifics will be provided to volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering please send your name, contact information (email address and phone number), and a 1-2 paragraph statement of your interest in serving as a volunteer along with your resume/vitae to Mr. Scott Brown ( brown_scott_a at yahoo.com
<mailto: brown_scott_a at yahoo.com
>) by Friday, December 7, 2012. If you know of someone that may be interested in this opportunity, please share this call for volunteers with her/him.

This year’s Service Day Projects may include working with community agencies that provide services to immigrants, the Appalachian community, individuals involved in the juvenile justice system, and veterans.

On behalf of the Central Planning Committee, we look forward to hearing from you.
