Purdue University
Assistant Professor of School Counseling
Department of Educational Studies

The Department of Educational Studies at Purdue University is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in its CACREP-accredited School Counseling program, beginning fall 2013. Responsibilities include scholarly productivity as evidenced by publications in high-quality peer-refereed journals and the pursuit of extramural funding for research, teaching core counseling courses, supervision, and engagement with the community and the profession. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or engagement.

The Purdue School Counseling program received the NBCC Professional Identity Award in 2011 and the NCACES Outstanding Innovative Counselor Education Program Award in 2007. This dynamic program is selective in admissions and has small, full-time cohorts. Students engage with schools and community partners in service learning, funded prevention-oriented small group work, and research in order to build skills, gain understanding of community resources, learn about school culture and collaboration, and support youth at risk for poor educational and personal outcomes.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from an accredited program or otherwise meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. They should demonstrate potential for scholarly productivity and extramural funding. Candidates should be committed to comprehensive developmental programming to support academic, career, emotional, and social development in diverse populations of children and adolescents and have knowledge of school counseling as a profession. Professional experience in P - 12 schools is desirable.

Application Procedure
Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2012, and will continue until the position is filled. A background check is required for employment in this position. Send the letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and a statement of professional goals relative to the College of Education strategic plan ( http://www.purdue.edu/spa/documents/College_of_Education_Strategic_Plan.pdf
