Research Presentation by Andrew Byrne, Counselor Education Assistant Professor Faculty Candidate TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2013 9:30 - 11:00 AM, McCracken Hall Room 214A Andrew M. Byrne is a rehabilitation counselor who enjoys making contributions to the field through research, service, and learning. Andrew earned master's degrees in Substance Abuse / Clinical Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from East Carolina University. He has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for adolescent and adult mental health and substance abuse, as well as state vocational rehabilitation in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Andrew is currently finishing his second year as a clinical instructor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology program. Andrew has completed the requirements for his Ph.D. with a successful dissertation defense on April 1, 2013, also through East Carolina University. Andrew's research interests include technology and its influence on addictions, counselor education and disability, problematic use of social networking in the workplace and educational environments, and gamification in counseling.
