Mississippi State University-Meridian offers Master of Science and Educational Specialist degrees in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Educational Leadership and Counseling. Minimum qualifications for the position include a Doctorate in Counselor Education with an emphasis in school counseling or a closely related field, demonstration of excellence in teaching, research, and service (Associate Professor) or demonstration of potential for excellence in these areas (Assistant Professor). ABD’s will be considered if the degree will be completed by August 15, 2013. Level of appointment is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preferred qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree from a CACREP accredited program; eligibility for licensure as a School Counselor in Mississippi; NCSC license; commitment to furthering the Division and University’s emphasis on excellence in the areas of research, teaching and service; and experience in a K-12 setting as a school counselor. Responsibilities associated with the position include undergraduate and graduate teaching and advisement; practicum, internship and research supervision, and program planning activities. The program is CACREP accredited and faculty work closely with area schools and community colleges. Students in the program obtain a Master of Science degree with a concentration in School Counseling or a Specialist degree in Education with a School Counseling concentration.
