Position Summary:

The University Of New Mexico College Of Education, Department of Individual, Family & Community Education, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Counselor Education beginning August 2013.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of Master's and Doctoral-level courses in the Counselor Education program. The candidate will be expected to assume an active role in all program activities including accreditation, community outreach, facilitating and maintaining program protocol, advisement, dissertation work, and collaboration with students in scholarly activities. In addition, the candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda.

Minimum Qualifications:

1) ABD in Counselor Education by appointed start date; or Counseling-related PhD with full-time teaching experience in a CACREP-accredited program prior to July 1, 2013;

2) New Mexico licensed; or licensed-eligible as a counselor or related professional.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) PhD in Counselor Education;

2) Evidence of competence and potential for excellence in teaching;

3) Teaching and experience working with diverse cultural groups, in particular, Native American and Hispanic populations;

4) Evidence of developing an active scholarly agenda, with potential for excellence in scholarship and ability to obtain outside funding;

5) Expertise in at least one of the following: school, family, and/or child and adolescent counseling;
