Dear Dr. Christine Suniti Bhat,

My name is C. Mujde Koca-Atabey, I am a visiting scholar in the Center on Human Policy, Law and Disability Studies, Syracuse University. I am requesting your assistance in announcing this research study being conducted by Professor James L. Bellini and me to your undergraduate and graduate students in rehabilitation and rehabilitation counseling. The study will examine the relationships among health beliefs, self-esteem, religious/spiritual beliefs, and attitudes toward persons with disabilities.

The proposed research has been approved by the Syracuse University Institutional review Board on Human Subjects under the category of expedited review. Expedited review is an IRB category used for studies that are primarily survey-oriented and have minimal risk to research participants. The benefits of the study include enhancing our understanding of key correlates of attitudes toward disability. Participation involves clicking on this link, which will take your students to the informed consent form, then the survey instrument. Completing the survey will require approximately 10-15 minutes of your students’ time.
