Speakers: Drs. Darcy and Paul Granello, OSU (Ohio University Alumni)
Topic: Because Every Life is Worth Saving:  Suicide and Suicide Prevention in Young People

]Each year in Ohio, we lose about 1400 lives to suicide, and more than 30,000 Ohioans have a suicide attempt. In 2010, we lost 196 Ohio youths (15-24), and more than 500 middle age adults. This workshop will use both the current state of the research and practice experience to teach the basics of suicide prevention and intervention. The Granellos are professors at Ohio State University and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. Particularly concerned with the phenomenon of suicide in teens and college-aged youth, the Granellos have written three books on suicide and presented more than 200 times to mental health professionals in the state, nationally, and internationally.
