MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
DOCTRID RESEARCH INSTITUTE - RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Posting # 0598

The MSU-DOCTRID Fellows Program, located in the Office of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (ORDS) in the College of Education at Michigan State University (MSU), seeks Research Associate(s) for the DOCTRID Research Institute, which is an international, interdisciplinary coalition of scholars and universities dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with autism, intellectual and other neurodevelopmental disabilities through research and technology.

DOCTRID was established as a research institute on autism and intellectual disability at the Daughters of Charity Service in Dublin, Ireland. It operates from a collaborative, international research model to carry out ongoing research and empirical studies that inform policy and practice and identify new evidence-based practices, including the impact of technology, that can be effective in the delivery of services to people with autism and intellectual disabilities. The DOCTRID Research Institute is designed to serve as a center of research excellence in conducting empirical research to inform policy and practice throughout the organization to improve services, care, and outcomes for the individuals served at the Daughters of Charity Service, and other service delivery organizations serving individuals with autism and intellectual disability in Ireland and on a global basis.

In addition to MSU and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) as the U.S. partners, the Irish universities that have partnered with the Daughters of Charity Service and RESPECT to create this unique institute include: Dublin City University, NUI Maynooth, NUI Galway, Trinity College Dublin, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, University College Cork, University College Dublin, University of Limerick, Queens University Belfast, Ulster University, the Institute of Technology Tralee and the Dublin Institute of Technology. The Research Associates selected for these two-year appointments with the Institute will be known as “Hegarty Fellows”, in memory of Sister Martha Hegarty, who was a visionary in the development of the DOCTRID Research Institute.
